A simple yet effective tool, the birth comb is easily accessed in any birth space. Whether it's in the bath, getting an epidural or your car ride into hospital, the birth comb will be with you whenever you need.
Our birth combs fit perfectly in the palm of your hand and are made from a strong wooden material for the tightest of grips.
Birth combs work in two ways;
1. Acupressure- The palm of your hand is full of acupressure points. When activated they provide provide pain relief that can be helpful during labour. The best way to access these points is to place the comb teeth down on the top section of your palm (close to the base of your fingers) and squeeze down during contractions.
2. Distraction- via The gate control theory of pain relief. When the brain is distracted your perception of pain can actual decrease! Similar to the role of the TENS machine, instead of focusing on the pain of your contractions your brain will focus on the sensation of the comb pressing down into your palm.
